ABOUT DESTINY

Owner | Handler | Trainer

I grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina and have always had the biggest heart for animals. I spent majority of my childhood immersed in animals of all kinds, from dogs and horses to hamsters and fish. My grandparents have so many VHS tapes of me working with the dogs!

I was exposed to the dog sport world very early on through my grandparents. They responsibly bred and exhibited Chinese Sharpei's in AKC Conformation. I started handling dogs in AKC Junior Showmanship at 8yrs old. I dreamt of making it to Westminster as a little girl. Through my grandparents, I was connected with Amanda Giles & Debbie Butt of Sporting Fields Kennels. I was blessed with the opportunity to spend my summers throughout middle and high-school working at their kennel and under Amanda at shows. After my first summer helping, Debbie gifted me my first whippet, Chaous. I went on to finish his Championship in AKC and remained very competitive in Juniors.

It wasn't until high-school when I became aware of dog sports outside of the conformation ring. Surprisingly enough, I was at a conformation show that also had a Rally & Obedience competition going on. I was so intrigued.

I got a little burnt out on dogs as I wrapped up high school. My interest turned to sports. I was competitive in variety of sports; both travel and club level. My freshman year of college, I decided I was ready to get back into dogs. I purchased my first German Shepherd, Lux. After thoroughly dissecting his pedigree and researching all of the titles his ancestors held, I learned of Schutzhund and found it fascinating.

I quickly jumped into AKC Obedience with Lux. I'll never forget our first OB trial in Greenville, SC. I totally wung it! Not long after that I became involved in dock diving, lure coursing, fast cat and began pursuing schutzhund clubs / bite work training. Lux ultimately was washed from dog sports due to a few genetic ailments but the knowledge that was attained by growing as a handler with him lead to where I am now. Then along came Only, my first true "sport dog" and foundation female for my breeding program.

During college, I stumbled across a kennel job on Craigslist. I picked up a job working for a Labrador Retriever Kennel out of Georgia. I spent three years working as a kennel tech, trainer and handler with over 80 dogs in my care. This opportunity exposed me to a whole new side of the dog sport world, retriever events!

Coming from a family with hunting tradition, the thought of adding dogs to anything I was involved in sounded like a great idea.

After college, I moved to Oklahoma in Winter of 2016 to be closer to my parents and in early 2017, I partnered with another local trainer in the area and ran a purely positive facility for roughly a year.

Moving to Oklahoma also presented me with hunting opportunities I never had living on the east coast, like upland hunting! Along came Moxie, my first German Wirehaired Pointer. Moxie was actually bought with intent to be trained as a pipeline leak detection dog, funny how things work out or don't!

Moxie is my first self trained upland and waterfowl hunting companion. I have trialed her through NAVHDA, UKC and AKC Hunt Test and Field Trials. I also guide upland hunts with her and Jocko, our other GWP.

Now with a household pack of 7 canine companions, I actively pursue a variety of dog sport titles! Such as but not limited to; Tracking, Obedience, Rally, Dock Diving, IGP (Schutzhund), Scent work, Fast CAT and Barn Hunt. I am actively pursuing HRD Search and Rescue Certification with one of my GSDs and I offer Game Recovery services as well! A full plate is the best way to live, right?!

I hold active memberships with my local UKC Hunting Retriever Club, NAVHDA Chapter, DVG Club, USCA, OKC Kennel Club, United Blood Trackers Association, Red Dirt SAR and I am an active member with my breed clubs. I am also one of the state coordinators for OKGSP Rescue.

I feel as though my lifetime experience of researching and working with animals and my effective communication with owners allows me to be an indispensable source to taking your companion to the next level. I am an approved Canine Good Citizen evaluator. I have completed many different courses through Fenzi Dog Sports Academy and Dick Staal Training School. I am extremely passionate about staying up to date with the latest science on animal behavior and training. I train with a "work the dog in front of me" mentality.
